Lunch and Learn with Steve Reents

On Tuesday we had Steve Reents come in to share his expertise on deal sourcing, and investing! Steve has been with Bentall Green Oak for 17 years, seeing the company go through 4 different mergers or buy outs. Steve is a managing director for an investment fund of over $50 Billion! He’s had the opportunity to work on many projects in Seattle including the Pacific Place Retail, Via-6, and the Capital Hill TOD project. He gave valuable insight on the challenges in each project. The different sort of partnership’s he’s encountered and how he’s managed all the teams involved.

One quote that stuck with me was Steve saying “It’s never easy to recognize where you are in the real estate cycle, however it’s completely obvious looking back.” Steve cautioned us to approach each deal without favoritism and analyze it from a pure opportunity level.
