Bill Pollard

Today we had another great Zoom and Learn with Bill Pollard. His enthralling speaking style was evident, even over this medium. I’ve personally sat through many zoom webinars and discussions, and Bills style was one of the most engaging I’ve been around. True to form, we had a significant portion of the Student and Post Grad club present. The robust question and answer session, which took up over half our time with Bill, showed that Bills words truly got some synapsis firing with the club members.

Some of the best tidbits of information that I got was one of the first things Bill said, early in your career it’s important to be seen, but not always be heard. Bill’s path to success was highlighted by hard work, and learning on the fly. Engaging with your teammates, holding responsibility, but also understanding what knowledge you might be lacking is vital. When talking about the outsourcing of work at large, Bill mentioned that one of the detriments of being fully integrated as a company is not knowing what you don’t know. Trapping yourself in your own companies bubble can lead to inefficiencies.
