MSRE Students Attend Urban Land Institute Fall Conference in Washington D.C.

The Urban Land Institute 2019 Fall Conference was a smorgasbord of inspiring and eye-opening seminars, panels and property tours in our nation’s capital. First and second-year Master of Science in Real Estate students (and some of our beloved faculty and administration) attended this exciting event just prior to the start of the Autumn 2019 quarter.

Seminars provided in-depth discussion from noted experts on such hot topics as affordable housing, Opportunity Zones, multi-modal transportation and the impact of real estate technology on the industry.

There were numerous opportunities to hear from high-level political figures including closing keynote speaker Nikki Haley (former U.S. Ambassador to the U.N.). The MSRE students were even lucky enough (thanks to our very own Suzanne Cartwright) to meet one-on-one with Chuck Rosenberg, former acting head of the DEA!

Tour highlights included the Kennedy Center Renovation, The Boro development and new Capital One Headquarters in Tysons, and Amazon’s HQ2 project.

There’s lots more great first-hand reporting and photos from students to be found on Instagram - just follow @realestateuw.
